BENGALURU: The police investigating the Church Street blast case are yet to get any breakthrough in the case. Around 150 policemen are working on different angles of the case.
After the blast on Sunday night, the police top-brass till Thursday was worried about ensuring that no untoward incident took place during New Year celebrations.
Hence the police was more concerned about bandobust than the blast investigation. Now that it is over, the police would focus on cracking the blast case.
DCP (Central) Sandeep Patil said, “Now that we are done with New Year duty, we will be focusing all our energy into the blast case investigation. Various teams formed are doing the tasks assigned to them.”
Meanwhile DCP (Crime) Abhishek Goyal said that around 150 policemen were on the job to crack the case. “The team includes two DCPs, six ACPs, 23 inspectors and other staff. The teams are working in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and several other places as part of the probe.”
Sources said that though the police have suspected the role of a few people in the case, they had no clinching evidence to detain or arrest them.
“We do not have any strong evidence to nab the suspects. We can do so only after we corroborate multiple evidences against them.
Also, we are careful that the investigation does not fall out of track because of our suspicions and past experiences. We are in the process of collecting solid evidences and then make any arrests,” an official said.
The SIT formed to crack the case are in constant touch with their counter parts in the neighbouring states. The police have continued their efforts to trace the suspects, whose portrait were prepared by experts based on the various CCTV footage.
