Mock drill exercise in Gujarat an insult to minorities, alleges Congress
New Delhi: The Congress on Friday dubbed the mock drill conducted by the Gujarat Police as extremely serious, and alleged that such acts which depict the minority community in poor light, is tantamount to an insult and isolates them from society.
"I think the Gujarat Government has done a very very serious mistake because skull cap is a symbol of a community and they wear it as a right... Gujarat is a state where out of its 6.5 crore of population, Muslims constitutes not more than 25 or 40 lakhs. So isolating them, this is too much. This is insulting them, incriminating them and isolating them from the society," Congress leader P.C. Chacko told ANI here while reacting about the anti-terror mock drill that was conducted by the Gujarat Police on Thursday and which showed dummy terrorists shouting a pro-Islamic slogan.

The Congress leader also demanded a strong statement from Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel so that such acts are not repeated again.
"In the mock drill what they have done is an insult to a community and mere apology will not do. The Chief Minister should come out with a strong statement that they should not repeat this hereafter," he said.
