Lucknow: The father of a boy accused of molesting a girl fired at the victim and left her seriously injured in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
The girl, a student of class 9, had lodged a complaint with the school authorities about her classmate who had attempted to molest her.
The school suspended the boy for five days and the authorities called the accused boy’s father and informed him about the incident.
The victim was also called to the principal’s office to give her statement before the father of the accused.
When the girl narrated the sequence of events, the boy’s father took out his pistol and fired at the girl.
The teachers present there managed to overpower the boy’s father and handed him over to the police. The girl has been admitted to a local hospital where her condition is critical.
District police chief Dilip Kumar said on Thursday that a case has been registered against the assailant and the weapon has been seized.
Gorakhpur MP, Yogi Adityanath, who met the girl, assured her parents that stern action would be taken against the accused father and son.
