Lack of Telugu forms delays land pooling in Andhra Pradesh

Farmers not happy with English forms; Work to restart on Jan. 2
Guntur: The land pooling process for the new capital, that started on Wednesday in Nelapadu village of Tullur mandal, has encountered a roadblock. The process had to be stopped due to the unavailability of consent forms in Telugu language.
The Capital Regional Development Authority had to postpone the land pooling process to January 2, 2015. Incidentally, the farmers/landowners of Nelapadu village were the first to offer their lands voluntarily for the new capital under the land pooling system.
On Wednesday, a gram sabha was organised in Nelapadu in which farmers had distributed sweets to the CRDA/revenue officials saying that the New Year has come one day in advance for them. The officials had then distributed English consent forms. However, the farmers objected to this and demanded consent forms in Telugu. This halted the land pooling process.
Farmers G. Subba Rao, A. Chalapathi Rao, K. Bapaiah, D. Rama Rao, D. Srinu and others of Nelapadu village had come to the gram sabha with passbooks and had announced that they were voluntarily giving their farmlands for the new capital. The farmers waited for ‘Form 9.3’ of the CRDA till midday, but they expressed dissatisfaction over the consent form which was in English.
Mr Chalapathi Rao said that consent letter has eight pages and they want to know what has been printed in those pages. He said that they do not follow English and demanded the form in Telugu. Mr Sudheerababu too sought Telugu consent letters, but they were unavailable with the officials.
Farmers said that they will hand over the land documents and pattadar passbooks only after getting the Telugu consent letters. Mr Sudheerababu said that land pooling process is temporarily on halt and would restart on January 2. Similarly, the land pooling process was stopped in all capital villages due to unavailability of consent forms in Telugu.
