Metro Rail engineers visited the Telangana DGP office
Hyderabad: Metro Rail engineers visited the Telangana DGP office on Wednesday to take measurements as according to the proposed realignment the Metro will pass through a part of the DGP’s office. While the exact location is still not confirmed engineers are considering all possibilities and accordingly will map the area for technical verification.
Sources said the Metro will pass through the area behind the headquarters complex where some offices, the police petrol pump and canteen are located. There is a possibility that they will be removed.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Metro has successfully completed testing of its 'intelligent' trains. 'Intelligent' metro trains will communicate their status and operation mode with each other and also to the control room at Uppal. This has been successfully tested.
The automatic train operation systems underwent successful testing. All the self control movements, speed performance and automatic application of brakes were successfully tested.
HMR managing director N.V.S. Reddy explained, “The train will work without intervention by the driver. This is the first time a Communication Based Train Control system is being implemented in India. It is the latest railway signaling system and is very sophisticated.”
The communication is radio based and there will be two-way digital communication between the trains and trackside equipment. The main control room at Uppal depot will be the nerve centre for controlling operations in the entire 72-km stretch.
Initially there will be a driver in the train and his job will be to press the button for closing the doors. As the system is new there is a worry that people will get worried about getting in and out. The driver will look after the safety aspect and also give adequate time for passengers to board the train.
