Iraqi forces retake Dhuluiya town of Baghdad from IS militants
Dhuluiya lies in the northern part of Baghdad that was seized by the IS in June
London: Iraqi government forces and allied Shia militia have retaken the Dhuluiya town of Baghdad, which was captured by the Islamic State militants in June, said sources.
According to BBC, almost 300 IS fighters had been killed in the battle, said a source at the Iraqi army's Samarra Operations Command. However, there is no independent confirmation of the reports.
Dhuluiya lies in the northern part of Baghdad that was seized by the IS in June and the southern half was surrounded when a local Sunni tribe refused to swear allegiance to IS.
The U.S. led coalition airstrikes have been pushing the jihadists north and west of the capital since they had captured the area.
