Restrictions on traffic in CBD
No entry from any direction from 8 pm on Wednesday to 1 pm on Thursday: MG Road (from Anil Kumble junction to the junction with Residency Road near Mayo Hall), Brigade Road (from Cauvery Emporium Jn. to Opera Jn.), Church Street (from its Jn. on Brigade Road to the junction of Museum road), Museum Road (from its junction with the M. G. Road to its junction with Old Madras Bank road), Rest House road (from its junction on Museum road to its junction on Brigade Road), Kamaraj road (from Cauvery Emporium junction to Cubbon road junction on both sides) and Residency Cross road (from Residency Road to Shankarnag Theatre Junction.)
No parking from 4 pm on Wednesday to 3 pm on Thursday: M.G.Road (from Anil Kumble jn to Trinity Circle), Brigade Road (from Arts and Crafts junction to Opera Junction), Church Street (from its junction with Brigade road to its junction on St. Marks Road), Rest House Road (from its junction on Brigade road to its junction with Museum Road), Museum Road, (from its Junction on M.G.Road to its Junction with Old Madras Bank Road). The police will tow away and fine if they find any vehicles on these areas between the specified times. After 8 pm on Wednesday, vehicles coming from the direction of Queen’s Statue junction on MG Road and proceeding towards Halasuru and beyond should turn left at Anil Kumble Circle, at B.R.V. Junction, turn right into Cubbon road and proceed on Cubbon road and join M.G.Road near Webb’s junction. Vehicles proceeding in the direction of Cantonment areas, from Halasuru will turn right near Trinity Circle and enter Halasuru road, turn left on Dickenson road and proceed towards Cubbon Road.
Parking for vehicles: Parking allowed on both sides of Kamaraja road (from Kamaraja road junction to Commercial Street junction) and 1st floor of BMTC Shopping complex in Shivajinagar.
Restrictions on revelers on Brigade road: Walk only from MG Road junction to Opera junction. Walking opposite direction is prohibited. Instead, proceed via Residency road cross (near Shankar Nag theatre cross). All flyovers closed from 9 pm to 6 am on Thursday to avoid incidents like accidents, crashes etc. Only cars are allowed on the elevated road connecting the International Airport.
Drunk driving: The police started a special drunk driving check all across the city from Monday night. Even on Wednesday night, there will be intense checking of vehicles, triple riding and other violations. The police have also formed 80 special teams to find out those who are involved in stunts and drag racing, posing threat to others’ safety.
