Health staff go missing in vijayawada
These employees have not been reporting to their immediate bosses
Vijayawada: By all accounts, as many as 165 health workers in the health department and 35 work inspectors in the engineering department of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation can be termed as “missing”.
These employees, who were recruited to carry out duties in their respective departments, have not been reporting to their immediate bosses.
Of the 1,495 PH workers’ posts in the sanitary department, 466 are vacant. A recent departmental survey revealed that 165 of the remaining 1,029 PH workers, who are supposed to be on duty, have not been assigned sanitary work in any division. Following this, CMOH M. Gopi Naik ordered the AMOHs to find out where these employees have “disappeared”.
A few days ago, mayor Koneru Sridhar sought the work inspectors’ details and report on their performance. Dr Naik said, “We found that the “missing” PH workers are involved in other works, such as attendants to the officers, computer operators and helpers in PHCs. We are speaking to the officers and will decide whether to get them to work in the departments they were recruited for, or allow them to continue working for the officials.”
