Ravichandran Ashwin’s coach Sunil to assist at Mohammad Hafeez test
Mohammad Hafeez is set to undergo an unofficial action test
Chennai: Sunil Subramaniam, coach of India’s lead off-spinner R. Ashwin, will be assisting biomechanists during Pakistan off-spinner Mohammad Hafeez’s unofficial action test at the SRMC rehabilitation centre, Chennai, on January 3.
The 34-year-old offie’s action was reported as suspect during the first Test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi last month and he was subsequently suspended after a bio-mechanical test found it to be illegal.
“The test would be conducted on January 3,” PCB media manager Agha Akbar told ARYNEWS.tv. “Hafeez’s action should be tested in an ICC accredited lab after his remedial work with coaches in Lahore. Therefore Hafeez is being sent to Chennai for an unofficial testing of his bowling action,” the PCB said on Monday.
According to sources, it is learnt that the BCCI had requested the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association to have Sunil during the action test. The TNCA had obliged the Board’s call immediately and have granted permission for Sunil to execute his duties as per the BCCI’s request.
Sunil has earlier worked with Ashwin and a few other Tamil Nadu spinners with regard to their action at the SRMC rehab centre.
