Organisers to defy Andhra Pradesh High court order
HC issued order not to allow cockfights as it involves cruelty to animals
Rajahmundry: Political leaders who are either directly or indirectly involved in cockfights on Sankranti eve intend to go ahead with their age-old tradition as a large number of people and farmers enjoy it.
HC issued order not to allow cockfights as it involves cruelty to animals and directed the government to curb such practice.
However, the cockfight organisers say that every time when they get ready to organise such fights once in a year during Sankranti just for fun, someone will approach the HC seeking its intervention to stop conduct of such fights.
It happened last year, when Eluru-based advocate approached the state High Court to stall such fights.
