Centre, Telangana look for 'missing' IAS officer Randeep Sudan

Randeep Sudan was IT whiz of Chandrababu Naidu when he was CM of undivided AP

Hyderabad: “Missing” IAS officer Randeep Sudan has been allotted to Telangana in the AIS officers’ allotment list. However, both the Centre and the state governments are clueless whether or not he is still in service.

Mr Sudan was the IT whiz of Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu when he was chief minister of undivided AP between 1995 and 2004. He went on an assignment to the World Bank in January 2005 soon after YSR became the chief minister. His deputation ended in 2007 but he has not reported back.

Later, he managed to secure extension of his deputation by two more years, which ended in 2009. He, however, failed to report back to the state government even then.

His wife Ms Preeti Sudan, who is currently on deputation with the Centre, has been allotted to the AP cadre. The TS government now wants to pursue the case with the DoPT, seeking action against Mr Sudan if he fails to report back to the state government.

A senior IAS officer remarked, “This is one of those rare cases. The issue has been taken up with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who asked chief secretary Rajiv Sharma to seek clarity on the Sudan issue with the DoPT. The chief secretary will be in Delhi on Monday and he will meet DoPT officials over the issue.”

A 1983 batch IAS officer of the united AP cadre, Mr Sudan has been giving anxious moments to both the Centre and state governments since 2005.
