Four JD(U) legislators disqualified
They have been found guilty of cross-voting against the party Rajya Sabha polls
Patna: The Bihar Assembly Speaker has terminated the membership of four MLAs of ruling JD(U) for indulging in anti-party activities.
Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary, while passing the order, said that they have been found guilty of cross-voting against the party in the recently-held Rajya Sabha polls. The four dissident legislators Ajit Kumar, Poonam Devi, Suresh Chanchal and Rajiv Kumar have threatened to move court against the order.
“They have been removed because their conduct was against the party. They will not be given any facilities available to other former MLAs,” state parliamentary affairs minister Shrawan Kumar said after the hearing.
With the disqualification of the four MLAs, the JD(U)’s strength in the Legislative Assembly has come down to 111. The BJP has 88 MLAs, the RJD’s strength in the Assembly is 24, the Congress five, the CPI one and there are 5 Independent legislators.
