Amitabh Bachchan lauds KCR, offers help to develop Telangana
Hyderabad: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan on Saturday called on Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at his camp office in Begumpet.
Amitabh was in the city to receive the Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) National Award 2014 instituted by the Akkineni International Foundation. Incidentally, Mr Rao was invited to present the award at the event held at Annapurna Studios in Banjara Hills. However, Amitabh came to the CM’s camp office prior to the award distribution programme and spent about half-an-hour with him.
Official sources said Amitabh congratulated Mr Rao on achieving a separate Telangana and on becoming the first Chief Minister of the new state. He also offered to help the TS government in its efforts to transform Hyderabad into an international city.
They said Mr Rao briefed Amitabh about the historical importance of the TS movement and Hyderabad city and the major milestones of the struggle that led to formation of TS Amitabh told Mr Rao that he loves Hyderabad and has been a frequent visitor to the city for over four decades for film shootings and other personal reasons.
Mr Rao also informed Amitabh about the Telangana government’s plans to build a Cinema City on the city outskirts spread over 2,000 acres and sought his cooperation for making it a success.
He sought suggestions from Amitabh over the salient features that need to be incorporated in the Cinema City to build it on a par with Hollywood.
Mr Rao told him that the government will soon come out with an “entertainment policy” offering attractive incentives to cinema and TV industry for shooting films and TV programmes in Telangana.
