Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Police on Thursday arrested a fake godman from Proddatur town of Kadapa district, also known as the ‘kissing baba’.

He kissed women devotees to treat their illness and solve other problems but gave lemon to men, says police.

A local court sent him to judicial custody for two weeks. The court also referred him to a mental hospital, as he appears to have an unsound mind.

Police also arrested Subba Reddy, a key aide of the fake saint who used to tell people that the baba can remove their affliction and solve financial and domestic problems.

The bogus godman was operating for the last two months from a room behind Ayyappa temple in the town.

Police swung into action after some television channels showed visuals of the baba kissing and hugging women devotees. He used to give only a lemon to men but misbehave with women.
