GCDA to start road repair work soon

The state government has sanctioned most of the projects submitted for approval

KOCHI: Some of the major roads owned by Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) including Kaloor – Kadavanthra Road will be resurfaced soon.

The state government has given administrative sanction for some of the projects submitted by GCDA such as relaying of KK Road, construction of a new bridge near Manapattiparambu and helium balloon at Marine Drive.

“The state government has sanctioned most of the projects submitted for approval. Tenders will be floated next week for the relaying works of KK Road, tarring of the first phase of Thevara – Thykoodam bund Road and construction of the bridge at Manapattiparambu.

Along KK Road, the stretch from Kadavanthra to Kathrikadavu Bridge will be resurfaced initially at a cost of Rs 2 cr. Once, the Kerala Water Authority completes the ongoing pipeline laying works near the Kathrikadavu Bridge, the remaining stretch up to Kaloor will be re-laid,” said GCDA chairman N. Venugopal.

Since, the KK Road has become a lifeline for motorists to enter and exit the city due to the ongoing Metro Rail works, the well-maintained road got badly damaged.
