Sanjay Dutt to maintain low profile after government plans to probe his furlough
Mumbai: The uproar over actor Sanjay Dutt’s repeated furloughs has apparently scared the actor. News reports that the Maharashtra government is looking into the repeated reprieves being given from jail to Dutt, has shaken him further.
A close friend of Sanjay Dutt says, “The reports stating the Maharashtra government is looking into his repeated furlough has completely freaked out Sanju. He and his family feel his furlough may be cancelled. “He has, therefore, decided to keep a completely low profile for the two weeks that he is out. Salman Khan was very keen on inviting Sanju to his week-long birthday bash. But considering the present scenario, the Dutt family has decided that Sanju will stay home. Only selected friends would be allowed to visit.” Apparently, the focus on Sanjay surfaced when Dutt was seen this week at a special screening of Raj Kumar Hirani’s pk.
Says a source, “Cynics are wondering if Dutt has been given a New Year vacation from his jail sentence.”
During his last parole in May 2014, granted on the grounds of his wife’s illness, Sanjay Dutt and his family were subjected to much embarrassment by a lengthy MMS clip that showed a drunk Sanjay Dutt, fooling around at his home and talking unabashedly about certain people in the film industry.
Adds the friend, “The family doesn’t want Sanju to do anything that would compromise his time outside prison. He just wants to be with his wife, children, sisters and brothers-in-law for a fortnight and then quietly return to jail.”
