Respect people’s mandate, Venkaiah Naidu to Congress

Regarding the issue of conversion, the Congress party has double standards

Bengaluru: Union Minister for Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu criticised the Congress party for not respecting the people’s mandate and not having patience to sit in the opposition at the Centre.

While delivering speech on the occasion of good governance day to mark former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday here on Thursday, Mr Naidu said that BJP had worked as opposition party for five decades, but the Congress has no endurance to sit in the opposition benches even for six months. It has no respect for people’s mandate.

The Minister remarked that because of good governance and other initiatives by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP has wrested power in Jharkhand and performed well in Jammu and Kashmir.

Regarding the issue of conversion, the Congress party has double standards. On one hand it is opposing anti-conversion law, but at the same time it is against re-conversion, he added.

Anjaneya’s remarks criticised
Condemning remarks of Social Welfare Minister H. Anjaneya, who had criticised Vajpayee getting Bharat Ratna, Mr Naidu said that the minister’s statements reflect the stand of Congress government in state.
