Anti-terror operations to rise if BJP forms government in J&K
New Delhi: With the possibility of the BJP forming the government in Jammu and Kashmir, there could well be a paradigm shift in the security apparatus in the Valley and key intelligence and security agencies are already gearing up for the new challenge.
Senior security officials deployed in Srinagar said it is clear that if a BJP-led government is formed in the state for the first time it would adopt an extremely tough stand on the issue of militancy.
This would mean a sharp increase in encounters and hot pursuit against subversive elements, major crackdown against the underground workers or separatists and even getting more aggressive with Pakistan along the LoC and the International Border.
The BJP government would want to send out a terse message by drastically reducing militancy in the Valley as it would want the Kashmiri pandits to return to the region, which has been a top agenda for the saffron party. Thus it would want to send out a terse message to the subversive elements by launching an all out operation against them.
Sources said the first direct implication of a first ever BJP government in the state would mean that the all important Srinagar-based unified command would have more representation from central agencies.
