kochi: The world’s longest handmade gold chain is being made at Dubai. The team of five jewellers, which is making the chain, has three jewellers from Kerala.
The chain is expected to be 5km long and will weigh 200 kg.
More than 100 artisans have been working for the last 40 days to make the chain that comes with a 40-carat diamond and is set to enter the Guinness Book of World Records.
It will be ready by January first week for the Dubai Shopping Festival, according to Tawhid Abdullah Abdulla, chairman of Dubai Gold and Jewellery group, a consortium of jewellers. More than 650 jewellers are participating in the project, he said.
