Fog disrupts normal life in New Delhi, minimum temperature at 5°Celsius

Movement of over 70 trains have been affected with delays and cancellations

New Delhi: Delhiites on Wednesday woke up to yet another chilly morning with dense fog enveloping several parts of the national capital, affecting movement of 70 trains and disrupting flight operations.

Minimum temperature dropped to 5 degrees Celsius, which was three notches below normal, according to the MeT department.

Foggy conditions at the Palam observatory till 8.30 AM this morning reduced visibility to zero while Safdarjung observatory recorded visibility at 150 metres.

Predicting party cloudy skies, the weatherman said that maximum temperature may rise to 17 degrees Celsius today.

"The skies will remain partly cloudy today and maximum temperature is expected to settle at 17 degrees Celsius," an official of the department said.

The official also said that humidity level recorded till 8.30 AM was 97 per cent.

Dense fog has severely affected most of the North-bound trains, including Rajdhani Express coming from Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati and Kolkata.

According to Northern Railway official, foggy conditions have affected about the movement of 70 trains, include Seemanchal Express, Mahananda Express, Purushottam Express besides Rajdhani.

On Tuesday, the minimum temperature was recorded two notches below the season's average at 6 degrees Celsius.
