Finally, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G is on sale
Xiaomi has been suffering a serious bashing for a few weeks. With data security issues to the recent patent infringement case with Ericsson, Xiaomi has battled some rough waters in India.
Until last week, Xiaomi was banned from importing, manufacturing and selling products in India by the Delhi High Court, following a case by Ericsson. However, the Delhi High Court later gave relief to Xiaomi and allowed the Chinese manufacturer to sell Qualcomm-based handsets as the case with Ericsson involved MTK-based chipsets. Xiaomi then took on to sell the Redmi 1S handsets, which possibly has seen its last sale in India on December 23.
Xiaomi had promised that the Redmi Note will see sales in the second half of December 2015 and the Redmi Note 3G will sell from December 2. Sadly, The Ericsson case made Xiaomi hold on to all sales in India.
Today, December 23, Xiaomi has announced the sale for the Redmi Note 4G in India. Flipkart will start registrations at 6 pm on December 23 and will continue till midnight of December 29.
The Redmi Note 4G is similar to the Redmi Note 3G, but differs by chipset, network and price.
The Redmi Note 4G is built with a 5.5-inch IPS display sporting an HD resolution of 720x1280 pixels. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with four processors clocked at 1.6GHz and clubbed with 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 305 graphics processor. The internal storage provided is 8GB, which can be further extended to 64GB via a microSD card. The rear camera is provided with a 13MP sensor, while the front camera is a 5MP.
The Redmi Note 4G is a single SIM phablet supporting 4G LTE network along with 3G and 2G. The Note 4G is powered using a 3100 mAh battery and runs on a custom Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, the MIUI v5. Priced at just Rs 9,999, the Redmi Note 4G is likely the first handset to be supporting 4G LTE networks in India with a lowest price tag. Sales start on 30 December at 2 pm.
