Miss India miffed with Indian team

Vegetarians Ishant Sharma and Suresh Raina did have an option down in Oz

Brisbane: Recently, cricketer Ishant Sharma, angry with the fact that no vegetarian food was arranged for his team, stepped out of the Gabba (the Brisbane Cricket Ground), for a quick bite. Colleague Suresh Raina too joined him for the short trip, now being seen as unprecedented, because cricketers rarely leave match venues for just food.

Anxious to help now is Brisbane’s famous ‘Miss India’. We are not talking about a beauty pageant winner here, but an Indian restaurant chain that has fed the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Owners of the chain, Raymond Prasad and Ravi say, “No more than 30 metres from the gate is Brisbane’s most famous Indian chain, Miss India. We were ready to cater to the team but received no orders. We could have immediately supplied a banquet free of charge for both team India and Australia,” he adds.

Interestingly, the restaurant did receive an order for 50 chapatis from the Indian team but the order could not be delivered.

“Our staff received an order for 50 chapatis to be picked up at 11.30 am. Instead, the catering staff arrived unannounced at the store at 10.45 am (45 minutes early) and expected the order to be ready. But the order could not be completed as the staff was still making the chapatis. Whoever is responsible for team catering needs to be more organised,” says Ravi.
