Cold wave kills seven in state

The maximum and minimum temperatures in the district were around 280C and 110C

Khammam/ Karimnagar: Denizens of the state, who have long suffered from heat waves, are now experiencing cold waves over the past week.

Two octogenarians succumbed to the cold in Sattupalli and Velierpad mandal in Khammam district. Sakeena Bee, 83, died due to cold in Sattupalli on Monday, while G. Sitamma died in Repakagommu under Velierpad mandal.

On Monday, the maximum and minimum temperatures in the district were around 280C and 110C.

In a another incident, an 80-year old man, Rangu Hanumanth Goud, succumbed to the cold at Gopalraopet village in Dharmaram mandal on Monday.

According to reports, four other people, including a woman, also died following breathing difficulty due to the cold wave in different parts of Karimnagar district on Sunday.
