Chennai: Making the government’s stand on the conversion issue clear, BJP national president Amit Shah said that the Union government was against forced conversions and it was up to the “so called secular parties” to decide on the subject of passing anti-conversion Bill.
“There is no change in our agenda for development. As far as conversions are concerned, parliamentary affairs minister Venkaiah Naidu has already made it clear that that government is opposed to it and could bring an anti-conversion law if the opposition too wanted,” he said.
Mr Shah declined to react to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s When his comments were sought on Mr Bhagwat’s assertion that India is a “Hindu Rashtra”, bu said, “RSS is a nationalist organisation.”
Speaking to reporters at the BJP state headquarters after meeting his party’s state office bearers here he said the BJP would emerge as the single largest party in Jammu and Kashmir. “In Tamil Nadu, we will fight the polls (in 2016) after announcing our chief minister candidate,” he said refusing to name the person.
