Road Transport Corporation staff strike in Hyderabad likely on December 23
The main demand is double wages for double duty
Hyderabad: The Telangana Mazdoor Union (TMU) of the RTC is all set to go on strike from December 23 in Greater Hyderabad limits.
“The talks initiated by the RTC management with union leaders failed on Sunday and we will go on strike as declared on December 23 and 24. The strike will continue indefinitely if the management does not respond within two days,” said TMU working president Thomas Reddy.
He added that executive director Jaya Rao called for talks on Sunday, but it yielded no results. The union also warned of taking the strike to other districts of Telangana. The main demands are double wages for double duty, three days leave every month and an end to “illegal” suspensions of drivers and conductors.
