162 year old church restored
The church suffered damage when the rafters came off during the last monsoon
Hyderabad: The 162-year-old Garrison Wesley Church at Trimulgherry has been restored to its former glory and was re-dedicated on Sunday by G. Dyvasirvadam, the moderator of Church of South India, in presence of over 1,000 attendees.
The church suffered damage when the rafters came off during the last monsoon. Subsequently, a Kanyakumari-based firm was hired for its renovation and Rs 1 crore was spent on the restoration, said Presbyter in-charge M. Jyothi John Sunder.
“We have renovated it because of the sentimental and emotional reasons. The renovation was done in a very traditional manner using a mixture of eggs, jaggery, herbs, aloe vera leaves, fine lime powder, lime mortar and jute,” she said.
