A tribute to Bapu
Actor turned politician Nandamuri Balakrishna remembered the legendary director Bapu at a function organised by the Hyderabad Film Club.
A week long Bapu Film Festival had been organised and Balakrishna was the special guest on the last day.
Sharing his experiences with the late director, he said, “Bapu spread Telugu cinema to national and international audiences; most of his films are classics.
It was a great honour for me to work with the great director in the film Sri Rama Rajyam. I dared to do a remake of my father’s earlier film Lavakusa and the only reason for that was Bapu garu.
It gave me many memorable moments,” says Balakrishna. He added that, he grew up watching Bapu’s films like everybody. “I wanted to do a film Krishna Bhagavan with Bapu, but it didn’t materialise. The script is still with me.”
He added that, though one thought that Bapu was a serious person, he was very humorous on the sets.
