New Delhi: Rajinder Khanna is set to be the new chief of India’s premier external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). Mr Khanna will succeed present chief Alok Joshi, who is set to retire on December 31.
A 1978-batch IPS officer of the Odisha cadre, Mr Khanna is currently number two in the intelligence agency and has had vast experience of handling different divisions of the organisations. Mr Khanna is considered a veteran at RAW having had a long stint with the organisation. Mr Khanna’s batchmate Arvind Saxena, who was also in the race for the post, has been shifted as head of the Aviation Research Centre. In addition, the government is also believed to cleared the appointment of Prakash Mishra as the new director-general of the CRPF. Mr Mishra is currently posted as special secretary (internal security) with the MHA. He was also in contention for the post of CBI chief. The Centre had earlier cleared the appointment of Dineshwar Sharma as the new IB director.
