Mental Hospital has 45 acres now in Telangana

The Hospital was known as Darul-Majanine during the Nizam era

Hyderabad: The 670-bed TB and Chest Hospital at Erragadda specialises in tuberculosis. The Mental Hospital, which once had about 100 acres, is now left with 45 acres after the government took over some portions of the land some other parts were encroached. The Hospital was known as Darul-Majanine during the Nizam era and was located at Chanchalguda Central jail. It was shifted to Jalna in Maharashtra, which was part of the then Hyderabad State, and shifted back to Hyderabad in 1953.

The CM’s recent announcements including developing Yadagirigutta on 2,000 acres, setting up of Film City, Pharma City and other establishments around Hyderabad on thousands of acres has increased land prices, forcing some to allege that Mr Rao was deliberately announcing projects to ensure a boom in real estate prices.

He also discussed with an MP regarding shifting military installations in Secunderabad and Hyderabad to the neighbouring Ranga Reddy or Nalgonda district.

Mr Rao plans to sell government land and earn money to fund mega projects including the water grid and develop water tanks among others.
