5 acre of Wakf land sold illegally
Hyderabad: The AP State Wakf Board has lodged a police complaint against the illegal sale of its five-acre land in Chevella by private persons. The land is worth nearly Rs 2 crore.
According to the Chevella police, the CEO of the Wakf Board had lodged a complaint alleging that one Mohammed Rayees and 10 others had sold 5.33 acres to third parties and the purchasers are currently developing the land by cutting down trees.
The cops have filed an FIR under Sections 447 and 427 of the IPC and also under Section 52 of the Wakf Act 1995, against Mr Rayees and others.
The officials of the Wakf Board said that the land belonged to Chilla Moula Ali and it was notified as Wakf property on February 16, 1989.
The Ranga Reddy district collector on September 27, 2005, had issued a letter to the Chevella sub-registrar, with instructions to not register any transaction involving the property; as it was notified as Wakf land.
The Wakf Board authorities revealed that the AP Wakf Tribunal had also granted status quo in May 2007 However, encroachers sold the property by using online registration facility and the purchasers got the land registered at Gandipet sub-registrar’s office.
When, contacted M.J. Akbar, the special officer of the Wakf Board, confirmed that certain individuals have sold away the property and the Board is taking steps to recover the land.
He said the Board is filing a civil suit for cancellation of the sale deed apart from booking the case against the encroachers.
