Man harasses married woman via Facebook, nabbed
Hyderabad: A private insurance company official harassed a married woman by creating her fake profile on Facebook and sending abusive messages to her relatives and neighbours. The man Begari Praveen Kumar also allegedly wrote her phone number in public toilets and abusive comments about her on public walls in Tukkuguda village. The cyber crime police of Cyberabad who arrested him said that he had also secured SIM cards using forged ID proofs of her husband and misused the phone.
The 32-year-old Praveen Kumar from Tukkuguda who is working as a team leader in a private insurance company harassed the woman as she had stopped talking to him after their short acquaintance. “They had met when they used to drop kids at a local school and developed a friendship. When the victim stopped talking to him he developed a grudge against her,” said cyber crime inspector S. Rajshekhar Reddy.
He then wrote her mobile phone number in public toilets asking people to call along with abusive comments. She got several calls and locals started talking about her. “Later, he created a fake profile of her on Facebook and added persons from Tukkuguda sending friend requests. He chatted with them using obscene language to defame her,” the police said.
Police said that he also forged an ID card and made it look like that of the victim’s husband and bought a SIM card to harass the victim. Later, the police booked a case following a complaint from the victim and found that he was doing his online activities from a local Net cafe.
