Aim for power in state, says Amit Shah
KOCHI: The BJP should aim at capturing political power in the state instead of focusing on opening its account in the state legislature, BJP national president Amit Shah said on Friday.
Addressing a meeting of the party’s state leaders in Palakkad, Mr Shah said the “objective should be to capture power and not open an account in the legislature.”
He asked his colleagues in Kerala to make use of the advantageous position enjoyed by the BJP at the national level and change the political profile in the state dominated by the Congress and CPM-led coalitions.
According to Mr Shah, both these alliances are in a declining phase and the BJP should take advantage of the situation.
On his second visit to Kerala after becoming the president, Mr Shah held a series of meetings with the stale-level and district leaders before addressing a public rally.
The meeting also decided to launch a 100-day plan to strengthen the party membership in the state and to increase it to 45 lakh.
BJP secretary in-charge of Kerala H. Raja, state president V. Muraleedharan and other senior leaders of the party addressed the meeting.
