PM Modi congratulates US Congresswoman Gabbard for taking up 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded US Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard’s participation in the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' and described her efforts in this regard as a special gesture.
"@TulsiGabbard joining the movement to create a Clean India is a very special gesture. I appreciate and congratulate her for the effort," tweeted Prime Minister Modi.
Gabbard had earlier on Thursday made an impromptu stop at a public school in the national capital and joined the children in cleaning up the school.
"Made impromptu stop at NDMC Navyug School Jor Bagh, public school in Delhi, so impressed with the kids! #TulsiIndia," tweeted Gabbard.
"@narendramodi Happily joined kids from NDMC Navyug School Jor Bagh cleaning up their school #CleanIndiaGreenIndia," she said in another tweet.
The 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' was launched nationwide to focus on sanitation, hygiene and waste management. The aim of the movement is to make India a clean country by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
