Hyderabad: Former Jubilee Hills MLA P. Vishnuvardhan Reddy gave the slip to the Cyberabad police on Thursday when they came to arrest him at his residence.
The MLA was booked by Madhapur police for assaulting Kalwakurthy MLA Vamsichander Reddy six days ago.
Sources said that Vishnuvardhan has already filed an application for an anticipatory bail in court. However, the matter was posted to Friday for hearing.
A special team of the Madhapur police had gone searching for him on Thursday morning after getting a tip-off about his whereabouts.
But, when the police team reached there, he had disappeared.
“Our team went to arrest him in connection with the assault case. However, he was gone when we reached there,” said DCP Karthikeya.
Vishnuvardhan allegedly attacked Vamsichander and his gunmen at a wedding party at N Convention on Friday night.
Both the leaders filed complaints against each other at the Madhapur police station. But when the police checked the video footage available at the convention hall they found Vishnuvardhan slapping Vamsichander and punching his gunmen for trying to stop him.
Sources said the former MLA is likely to be in hiding till he gets the anticipatory bail.
