Telangana State gives nod for plot regularisation

The government proposed to regularise only plots on which houses have already been built
Hyderabad: The move to regularise unapproved land layouts was unanimously approved by the TS government. The parties also approved another proposal to regularise for free, plots smaller than 125 sq. yd to protect the interests of poor.
The government proposed to regularise only plots on which houses have already been built, and not allow regularisation of vacant plots. The government will take back all plots that are vacant.
The government decided that owners of plots ranging from 300 to 500 sq. yds will pay increased penalty amount for every 100 sq. yds. And those holding plots bigger than 500 sq. yds will pay a hefty amount for regularisation.
However, on these decisions, the political parties said they were held by higher income groups and huge penalties should be collected from them. Some parties demanded that the government should take back land in case they are vacant. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Congress, TD, BJP, MIM, YSRC, CPI and CPM.
Though realignment of the Metro Rail route, the cleaning of Hussainsagar and setting up of Vinayaksagar for immersion of Ganesh idols were expected to come up in the meeting, they were not discussed. The meeting was confined only to regularisation of land and the CM promised to hold another all-party meeting to discuss on these issues.
