Hyderabad police up on Facebook, but some links missing
Citizens can now connect with their police stations through www.facebook.com/hyderabadpolice
Hyderabad: As part of its citizen friendly policing, the Hyderabad police has opted for technology to reach out to citizens. Every police station in Hyderabad has now ope-ned its Facebook page, where it can interact, respond and take suggestions from citizens in their limits.
Telangana DGP Anu-rag Sharma after inaugurating the Facebook pages of Hyderabad pol-ice said, this initiative was done on the advice of Prime Minister Nare-ndra Modi at an annual conference of DGPs in Guwahati last month.
All the DGPs in India were told to do ‘SMART policing, which is strict, smart and sensitive, mobile and modern, alert, responsive, and technologically trained, Mr Sharma said. “The objective to use social media is to enable local communities to identify their felt needs of policing and communicate to the local police in real time, Mr Sharma added.
Meanwhile, it looked city cops were not fully prepared with all the police stations connecting with Facebook, as some of the PS pages were leading the users again to home page, like Charminar, Falaknuma, Moghalpura, etc. Also, the official page of Hyderabad police was not updated with the latest contact details.
