Priyanka Chopra roped in to play the lead in a Hollywood show
Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra seems unstoppable. The actress, who has a steady career in Hindi film industry, has been working on strengthening her international footprint as well. From being the face of international brands to her formal training in Los Angeles in music and cutting her own single with a bigwig like Pitbull, PC has been successfully adding several feathers on her cap.
We now hear that the actress has been roped in to play the lead role in Hollywood’s popular studio ABC Television’s new show. ABC’s Executive Vice President of Casting, Keli Lee, who also created ABC’s Casting Talent Showcase, spearheaded the deal and traveled to Mumbai to personally sign Chopra.
The studio, that has made popular shows like Castle and Modern Family, has designed the concept of their upcoming show that will feature PC in the lead. Priyanka’s deal with ABC Television Studios is the same deal that Sofia Vergara committed to years ago, which landed her a lead and award winning role on ABC’s hit show Modern Family. This is the first time an Indian actress will be playing the lead in a Hollywood show.
A source from the channel said, "Yes, it is the first time when a studio in Hollywood will be developing a customised TV content, for Priyanka Chopra and This has never happened for any Actress in the history of American television."
The deal was formally signed on Tuesday. According to sources close to Priyanka, she has a one-year contract with ABC Television. “The details of the show are being worked on. Her team in Hollywood and Bollywood are trying to ensure that her dates for the show and her Hindi films don’t overlap. Priyanka is ecstatic and is looking forward to yet another new phase in her career,” adds a source.
