Ram Gopal Varma's latest Twitter blunder

Filmmaker posted condolences even as K Balachander was still fighting for his life

Ram Gopal Varma, who tries his level best to stay in the news, did it again on Tuesday when he tweeted about the “death” of ailing filmmaker K. Balachander.

RGV, who suffers from a perennial “foot-in-mouth” disease, tweeted: “Feeling sad for the passing away of K. Balachander the only true maverick director of Indian cinema”. And though he deleted the post soon afterwards, the blunder had escalated into an online row.

The 84-year-old Balachander, whom both Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan acknowledge as their mentors, had been admitted to the Cauvery Hospital in Chennai on Monday due to age-related reasons.
