Leaked: WhatsApp desktop version in the making

The 2.11.471 version of WhatsApp mentions about ‘WhatsApp Web’ traces

WhatsApp, a social media app, launched in 2009, completed more than 600 million downloads all over the world.

As WhatsApp has received a great response, the tech giant is reportedly working on developing its desktop version. Online reports reveal that Pavel Durov, co-founder of Telegram (messaging app), stated, ‘WhatsApp could be working on a web version’.

According to AndroidWorld, the 2.11.471 version of WhatsApp mentions about ‘WhatsApp Web’, which comes with status and update activity traces.

The present version of WhatsApp allows you to login by authenticating your account based on mobile numbers offered by telecom service providers. This in a way raises a question regarding the authentication of the WhatsApp account on the desktop.

Media reports state that your WhatsApp web account will be using OAuth. The web domain name of WhatsApp will be https://web.whatsapp.com and users will need a Google login ID to log in.

The desktop version of WhatsApp is rumoured to be under development. However, there is no official information about the release of the desktop version. Stay tuned, as we will keep this section updated as soon more information breaks out.
