Tribal suspected to be Maoist shot dead in Telangana
Hyderabad: A tribal was shot dead when police opened fire suspecting him to be Maoist at Dosillapalli village in Cherla mandal of Khammam district on Sunday.
Khammam police have started an investigation into the incident. Cops are also verifying if Rao had Maoist connections.
The victim, K. Narasimha Rao, 38, from the village, along with his friend were on their way to Cherla on a two-wheeler, when the CRPF and special police, tried to stop their vehicle. When he tried to flee without stopping the vehicle, cops confused them to be Maoists and opened fire.
The injured Rao was brought to NIMS Hospital in Hyderabad, where he succumbed to injuries in the night, sources from NIMS said.
Sources said that In Rao got shot in the stomach while his friend escaped unhurt.
