Kerala Cops look for links to Twitter handler
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the arrest of a techie in Bangalore on charges of handling a twitter account spreading pro-ISIS twitter, the state police intensified cyber patrolling.
A state police team that left for Bangalore will also seek details of any Kerala links of the engineer Mehdi Masroor Biswasas as well as the twitter '@shamiwitness'.
A digital surveillance unit under the state police intelligence wing had already stepped up the vigil on twitter and other social mediaplatforms.
"So far we have not received any specific information on the Kerala-links. But our officers who have left for Bangalore will look for such information," said police sources.
DC had recently reported that the police officials were concerned over suspected attempts to pool cadres from Kerala through social media.
The discussion over the arrest of a youth on charges of insulting the national flag and national anthem couple of months back were quite disturbing and it was even suspected to be used by vested interest groups as a platform to spread pro-IS messages.
These issues were also pointed out at a high-level police officers' meeting convened by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala.
