Smiles soon turned into tears at actor Aadi’s household early Sunday, when the newly-married star’s grandfather, 84-year-old P.J. Sharma, passed away following a sudden heart attack.

Pudipeddi Jogeswara Sharma, known popularly as P.J. Sharma, made his film debut with Illarikam, 1957, and soon built a portfolio of nearly 150 films, as an actor and lent his famous voice to nearly 500 movies. He was born in Vizianagaram and following his debut, went off to Madras to pursue a movie career.

His voice was his best asset. Sharma’s three sons, Sai Kumar, Ayyappa and Ravi Shankar Prasad, have all inherited his voice and are now popular as actors and dubbing artistes. Sharma’s wife Jyothi, also a popular dubbing artiste, had passed away few years ago.

Actor and former union minister Chiranjeevi, and a few other actors and politicians were spotted at the funeral, paying their last respects.
