Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam leaders have taken seriously the enrolment of party membership drive in Telangana.
Unlike in Andhra Pradesh, in Telangana, the Telugu Desam is getting poor response from the people. In Telangana, TD membership reached around 3 lakh whereas in AP it has crossed 20 lakh.
On the directions of the AP Chief Minister and Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Telangana Telugu Desam leaders have intensified the membership drive. They are visiting each house like the enumerators of voters’ list and distributing pamphlets explaining the benefits of taking active membership in the party and also the benefits they will get in the future.
In Hyderabad city, Telangana TD leaders have taken special interest keeping in view of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections.
Every day they visit individual houses and apartments in the city distributing pamphlets to convince them to take active membership in the party. They tell the people that if they take active membership in the party, they will get Rs 2 lakh insurance and concession in some private travels owned by TD leaders.
They assure concessions in the hospitals also. In the selected hospitals, in and outpatients will get 10 per cent to 50 per cent concession. But, most of the hospitals are located in Andhra Pradesh.
In Hyderabad, Mallareddy Hospital owned by TD MP, Kims hospitals in Kondapur and Secunderabad, Apollo hospitals and Asian Institute of Gastroenterology in Hyderabad will offer the concession. Telangana TD leaders are collecting Rs 10 for ordinary members and Rs 100 for active members.
