Nothing wrong in destruction of probe report: CPI leader

There is no practice in the party to keep such reports in safe custody

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI Assistant Secretary Prakash Babu on Saturday said that there was nothing unusual in party destroying the report of the three member panel which probed the payment seat allegations related to Bennet Abraham's candidature.

He said all major committees’ including party's top appellate authority Control Commission had examined it and disposed of the matter.

There is no practice in the party to keep such reports in safe custody, the CPI leader who is also holding the additional charge of district secretary told media persons.

The destruction of documents has triggered a major controversy since the division bench of Lok Ayukta had recently asked the party leadership to cooperate with the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

It had asked the party state secretary to hand over the documents including panel report and minutes of the meeting which took the decision to grant party ticket to Bennet Abraham from Thiruvananthapuram Parliamentary Constituency.
