Hospital staff refuse to use biometric set up

Officials plan to link devices with salaries
Hyderabad: Officials of Andhra Pradesh Vaidya Vidhana Prarishad hospitals reportedly resort to by passing the biometric system. To make doctors, nurses and other employees fall in line in the district and area hospitals, the government has set up biometric attendance machines.
Recently the AP government decided to set up biometric machines in all hospitals including primary health centres. Before setting up biometric machines in all hospitals, the AP Medical and Health department made an internal inquiry about the functioning of existing biometric machines in area hospitals.
The inquiry revealed most of them are not working or under repair. Area hospital’s officials told the government that they have complained to the supplier but there was no response from them. But AP Medical and Health department officials suspect that some of officials wanted the machines idle to avoid recording attendance.
In Andhra Pradesh of 13 districts expect Visakhapatnam, West Godavari, Prakasam and Krishna in all other district area hospitals are provided with biometric attendance machines. But more than 50 per cent biometric attendance machines are not working according to internal inquiry made by the AP Medical and Health Department.
In East Godavari 12 area hospitals were provided with biometric attendance machines. But only in the District Coordinator Hospital Services the machines are working and in all other 11 hospitals the machines are not working.
In the home district of AP Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, in Chittoor out of 16 machines 14 are working. The hospital authorities gave various reasons for machines not working. All most all hospital authorities told the government that the RRG Engineering technologies, the supplier of biometric attendance machines are not responding to their complaints.
The AP Medical and Health Department officials said that the employees are opposing the biometric attendance system. The government has decided to take some precautionary measures for effective usage of biometric attendance.
