Two arrested for murder of goon Shameer
Kochi: Two days after notorious goon Morchery Shameer (36) was hacked to death by a group which forcefully entered his house early in the morning, cops arrested two CITU workers and are on the lookout for 11 others for conspiracy to commit murder.
The arrested were identified as P V Gabriel (53), a resident of Panapilly, Vennala, and K M Prasad (54), a native of Kavara House, Vennala.
According to police, the goon had threatened Jinson, son of Gabriel, a month ago and tried to extort him. This had even led to a fight between Gabriel and Shameer at the union office.
When the goon again threatened his son a week later, Gabriel took up the matter with his union friends. A conspiracy was hatched on Wednesday night at the house of Gabriel in which the group decided to eliminate Shameer who had earlier threatened to kill Jinson.
As planned earlier, 13 members arrived at the house of Shammer, located at a ‘puramboku land’ near the Eroor Arkakadavu Bridge at 5 am, in bullet motorcycles.
Except for one, all others wore a helmet. One of them knocked on the door and Shameer’s wife Shiaba answered. When asked whether Shameer was at home she answered in the negative.
“But he stormed into the house and entered the room where Shameer and his toddler son were sleeping. He hacked the goon with a sword as others too entered and joined in the act.
His wife and mother Nabeesa tried to prevent the group, but in vain.” Meanwhile, CITU said the union had no role in the murder and conspiracy. “It’s an incident of personal enmity.
The union had no role and will take action against the members if found guilty,” said K N Gopinath, CITU district secretary.
