Normalisation issue to figure in CBSE meet
Kochi: The Confederation of Kerala Sahodaya Complexes will take up the issue of ‘normalisation of marks’ with the CBSE controller of examinations K.K. Chaudhary on Saturday.
“Chaudhary will attend the statewide meet of the CBSE school principals organised by the confederation here,” said Mr Mahesh D Dharmadhikari, joint secretary and regional officer, CBSE, Thiruvananthapuram.
The criticism against the ‘normalisation of marks’ from the time it was proposed by the previous LDF government for engineering entrance examinations was that it was biased against CBSE and ICSE stream students.
Normalisation is a method for bringing marks scored by candidates in different Plus -Two board examinations in the country and abroad on the same plane.
For this, the mean and standard deviation of the scores from the CBSE, ICSE, Kerala Higher Secondary and Kerala Vocational Higher Secondary examinations would be calculated.
The ‘combined mean’ and the ‘combined standard deviation’ will be derived from this afterwards.
The other issues to be discussed in detail will be grace marks for sports and cultural competitions, the new changes planned by the CBSE to improve the education system in its schools and the administration of CBSE school managements, said Mr K. Unnikrishnan, confederation president.
A meeting of the confederation was inaugurated by former Indian ambassador T.P. Srinivasan here on Friday.
