Common EAMCET likely for Telangana, Andhra Pradesh: Governor E S L Narsimhan

However, who will conduct the exam and the competent authority is yet to be decided
Hyderabad: Governor E.S.L. Narsimhan said on Friday that the next Eamcet is likely to be common for both TS and AP. However, who will conduct the exam and who will be the competent authority is yet to be decided. Sources said that clarity needs to emerge by the end of this month for the smooth conduct of Eamcet.
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi Governor Narsimhan said that students wouldn't suffer and their interests would be protected.
Officials from Telangana said the government is open to a common Eamcet though several aspects regarding this are yet to be resolved.
"There are many issues regarding Eamcet that has to be sorted out. We have not begun deliberations on this yet," sources said. Two most important issues are that of conducting the exam and the competent authority.
In united AP APSCHE was the competent authority while JNTU-H was conducting the exam on behalf of APSCHE. The university has conducted the exam 16 times till now. It is learnt that the Governor has offered to oversee the common exam with institutions that conducted the previous Eamcet doing so again.
There is a suggestion that JNTU-H be allowed to conduct the Eamcet and Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) be made the competent authority. There is also a suggestion that the seven other CETs should be given to the universities which last conducted them and the respective Council of Higher Education should be the competent authority.
All these CETs would be overseen by the Governor. But again there are concerns whether the AP government will agree to JNTU-H conducting the common Eamcet under TSCHE. A similar offer was made for Intermediate exams but the AP government didn't agree. Sources also said that these issues need to be resolved by the end of the month for the smooth conduct of Eamcet next year.
