After row, Secunderabad Cantonment Board to collect garbage
Hyderabad: In the aftermath of the confrontation between 1,000 families of Mahatma Gandhi nagar and Army authorities over dumping garbage, the Secunderabad Cantonment Board will collect waste from door to door.
Residents said that if the SCB had done this earlier, waste would not have been dumped on the main roads. While the Army continues to monitor residents from the outpost set up at Allahabad gate, SCB will also place a small dumping bin inside Gandhi Nagar.
“After three days since the Army blocked 1,000 households from dumping waste adjacent to Gandhi Nagar, the SCB, CEO inspected the site on Wednesday and sent a garbage truck for door to door collection. The SCB has asked residents not to throw waste adjacent to the main road and also set up a bin for ward 5,” said T. Anjaiah, resident SCB ward No. 5.
Civic body yet to Identify Alternatives to AOC roads
Alternative routes at Lallaguda gate from Anand Bagh, Gandhinagar and Safilguda (Hanumanpet) have been identified once the Army imposes a complete ban. A survey revealed that 1.9 lakh commuters use AOC roads everyday, however, the Safilguda gate towards East Marredpally witnesses highest civilian movement. The survey has been submitted to the GHMC but the corporation has identified alternative routes, following the Army plans to carry out the next phase of restriction.
