The bizarre eating addiction of a British mum-of-five has gone viral. According to the Dailymail, Jane Sylvester, 25, consumes an entire toilet roll every day after developing the odd craving during pregnancy. The full-time mother is thought to be suffering from Pica, an eating disorder that is characterised by the desire to eat items with little or no nutritional value, including such things as stones, sand, paint or dirt.
She first developed the bizarre habit while she was expecting her youngest son Jaxon. She suspects she suffers from Pica, a condition in which people eat objects which are not suitable to be consumed and have no nutritional value. Jane was quoted in Dailymail: "Two months into the pregnancy, I started craving toilet roll. I still don't know why."
"I like the feeling of the texture in my mouth, rather than the taste. I like the dryness. My family tell me it isn't very good for me - but I can't help it."
Her son was born healthy and is developing normally but she still continues to digest the paper, waiting until she needs to go to the toilet where she will eat a few sheets of toilet tissue in private, chewing and swallowing up to a roll a day.
